AFRICA’S WOMEN Day Awareness Month

Today, we celebrate:

Honourable Luísa Dias Diogo
First Female Prime Minister of Mozambique

Luísa Dias Diogo served as the First Female Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique from February 17th, 2004, to January 16th, 2010. She also served as the Minister of Finance. In 2006 she was appointed by Kofi Annan, then UN Secretary General to co-chair the UN High Level Panel on System wide Coherence.

Luísa Dias Diogo started working in the Ministry of Finance in 1980. She also worked as the World Bank Program Officer for Mozambique and as member of the Council of the African Union Foundation. Prime Minister Luísa D. Diogo was born in Mozambique on April 11th, 1958.
